We had the most fantastic few days cruising around Languedoc basking in the glories of its stunning scenery, checking out hidden towns, delicious restaurants, and goggling at the field upon fields of sunflowers.
Below are our top tips:
Stay:
Camellas-Lloret, Montreal - a four bedroomed beautifully decorated sanctuary in Montreal, run by an amazing couple, Colin and Annie.
Eat:
La Table de Norbert, Carcassone - incredible steak and chips - run by quite a character!
La Taverne a Bacchus - a beautiful hidden restaurant famed for their pates and gazpacho
Biquet Plage, Leucate - If you go to the beach you must have lunch here. The restaurant is made up of shipping containers - it pops up for the summer and then disappears. Its fun and got a really buzzy atmosphere
La Cambuse de Saunier - incredible restaurant looking out over the pink salt farms. Stylish, simple, and delicious seafood - you must check out their rooftop cocktail bar.
Do:
Fanjeaux - walk to the top of the village and check out the views
If your there on a Wednesday, grab some food at Bram market and go and have a picnic on Lake Lampy
Mirepoix - have a coffee in the square
Montolieu - a beautiful little village known as the 'village of books' - have a drink in the square and watch the locals play boulle. Spy the most incredibly stylish public loo and check out the views over the bridge
Saissac - have a wander around and check out the crumbling castle
Hotel de la Cite, Carcassone - enjoy their signature aperol spritz whilst looking out over the most incredible views of Carcassone from the castle.
